Ministry of Health Passes out 202 community Health Extension workers(CHEWS) to boost community Health in Luwero District.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Diana Atwine has today officiated the passing out of 202 community Health extension workers at Luwero District headquarters. According to Luwero District Health Officer ( DHO) Dr. Innocent Nkonwa, the 202 Extension workers started their intense training on 20th January, 2025 up to June 2025 after a community selection of 2 community members per Parish in Luwero District. According to DR. Diana Atwine, the Community Health extension workers ( CHEWS) were recruited basically to monitor community health related issues, link communities to health centers and maintain sanitation of the communities to reduce numbers at health centers.
